I pulled up and received service right at my car door window. I ordered root beer floats, onion rings, and French fries! I didn't wait very long to receive my food once I placed my order. Onions rings were hot and crispy, on the larger side (definitely shareable). The root beer float was deliciously sweet and creamy! The root-beer was one of the best I've had so good!

Long time old fashion car hop!!! Food is good...they have a full menu with all sorts of things, we ordered double cheeseburger, chili cheese dogs and onion rings and mugs of homemade root beer!!! Service was great and atmosphere is awesome..definitely family and pet friendly. They have a nice covered area with tables to eat and you can also just pull up and someone will come and take your order. Also a walk in restaurant next door!! Give them a try...we definitely will be going back to try other menu items.

I love the root beer from this place it has the perfect creamy flavor. The service is nice for a drive in restaurant. My other favorite are the basics onion rings and burgers. This is the perfect place to stop after visiting the race track or if you are just in the area.

How have I not visited a Speedway institution!?!? I met a friend for lunch at Mug n Bun. We opted to sit at the picnic tables instead of in the car so we could visit. There are menus on the table and there is a bell to ring when you are ready to order. I definitely wanted a tenderloin so I went with the grilled option with ketchup, pickle, and onions. They didn't skimp on the toppings which I love and accompanied that with seasoned fries. They were crinkle cut were a large portion that arrived hot and fresh. The seasoning was good but only on the top half of the fries. I enjoyed my meal. My friend ordered the breaded tenderloin and the fried cheese balls. It looked good(tenderloin was more of a fritter). The frosted mug root beer was a hit! I've heard they also make great milkshakes. Nice to finally try a place that hold so much nostalgia and history.

The Mug'nBun is a Speedway / Westside Indy institution. The traditional Drive-In with wait staff who run out to your cars as well as picnic tables setup and also now a Dining Room building (I have never been in). Great to grab a tenderloin sandwich or any of their many menu items. The Root Beer is homemade and the Floats, Shakes & Malts all are worth the trip. No alcohol, so fountain drinks. But did I mention the Rootbeer?

Mug n Bun is a Westside staple after 50 years and loved by many with a steady following. Unfortunately, it is currently for sale and some uncertainty for the future for us who visit often. Our go-to's are the chili dogs and family size French fries. My son loves the breaded tenderloin with everything on it. The milk shakes are good, and I order the peanut butter. The shrimp, chicken, and catfish dinners are very popular. The Italian Sausage and Polish Sausage are decent, and the Sirloin Steak Hoagie is hit and miss. Sometimes it is very tender and next time tough. There is outdoor seating on the deck with indoor seating at the Mug n Bun house next to the parking lot. They are open year round. Mug n Bun Pizza is located at the back of the parking lot. Pizzas are CARRY OUT ONLY. They are very popular with patrons. Pizzas are obviously offered as well as subs, fried chicken, pork chops dinners, and chicken dinners along with family dinners. Family dinners include potatoes, slaw, and rolls. After 54 years, they must be doing something right! Whether you carry out, sit in your car to eat, sit on the deck, or go indoors, it will trigger those nostalgia days of car hops and drive-ins. Stop in and take advantage of Mun n Bun in case they disappear from Speedway soon.

Having been to several root beer stands on this trip, Mug N Bun was a bit disappointing. Middle of the pack, anyway. Not bad. Service was a bit curt and slow compared to others. Probably just understaffed. Leave your lights on for service, whether to order or to have the tray taken away. Got a burger and corn nuggets, and of course root beer. Burger was big for a single. Soft bun, good patty, decent toppings- plasticky tomato. Corn nugget portion was smaller than I expected but decent. Nuggets were good; have I ever had a bad one? Root beer was watery (iced, but also thin tasting, it seemed.) Wintergreen and anise predominating. Couldn't see head- they have their own special cups. Different, not bad, refreshing enough. Price seemed high, but then, everyplace has gone up. Good enough that I'd go back if in the immediate area, not worth a detour.
